Archaeology Between Play and Discovery

The Obsidian Museum “Carlo Lugliè” offers families a unique and engaging experience through educational workshops designed for all ages, led by staff specializing in archaeology, with specific training in museum education. Activities are designed to introduce participants to the fundamental concepts of archaeology and specific obsidian-related topics.

Neolithic gestures and knowledge

The workshop offers a unique opportunity for all families to experience the Neolithic technique of stone polishing. Adults and children will work together as prehistoric artisans, using traditional tools to drill, smooth and decorate steatite.

During the workshop, participants will experience the cutting power of obsidian or flint tools and discover how these stones were used in prehistoric times to work with different types of materials. Children will experiment with cutting leather to make a personalized artifact.

In a creative and engaging atmosphere, each family will enjoy reproducing decorations typical of prehistoric art, using natural pigments and rudimentary tools. A unique experience to explore history through art, sharing moments of creativity and discovery!

Neolithic art

During the workshop, families will have the opportunity to immerse themselves in the fascinating world of prehistoric art. Adults and children will work together to experiment with using stone and “carving” decorative and symbolic motifs inspired by Neolithic monuments. Working side by side will be an opportunity to share creativity, manual skills and discovery.
