Our

Commitment

Museum accessibility

The Museum has braille aids in every exhibition room to make the wealth of information accessible to blind and visually impaired people. Specific tactile stations allow all visiting persons to have their own experience in direct contact with the raw material and the scientific content offered. There are also two video guides with Sign Language interpreters.

Special rates and entry priority

Special rates are applied for the benefit of Pau residents, children under the age of 6, chaperones of groups of at least No. 15 people (No. 1 person per group), teachers of class groups, chaperones of people with disabilities (No. 1 per person) and FAI card holders.

Accessible entrance

The Obsidian Museum is committed to promoting accessibility in all activities and services, with the goal of improving the experience of people visiting with disabilities and making the museum accessible to all. Our accessible entrance space is designed to accommodate and meet the needs of people who have mobility impairments or other special needs.

Guide dogs

The Obsidian Museum welcomes people visiting with their guide dogs. Guide dogs are welcome in all public areas of the museum, including exhibition spaces, entrances, and the lecture hall. Recognizing the importance of these animals especially for people with visual impairments, the staff strives to ensure a comfortable and accessible experience for all of our visitors.

Accessible restrooms

The Obsidian Museum’s restrooms are located on the ground floor near the public reception area. They are also accessible to people with disabilities and are equipped to ensure a comfortable and safe experience for all visitors. Our staff is attentive to the needs of visitors and strives to maintain facilities in optimal condition during museum hours.

Family services

The Obsidian Museum pays special attention to family groups and younger age audiences. The exhibition itinerary includes dedicated supports such as multimedia and cards, designed with the intention of involving the youngest visitors in the exploratory experience of the museum, stimulating curiosity and creativity. Dedicated Museum and Park guided tour services, events, activities and workshops are organized, the calendar of which can be found on the events page.

Tactile pathway

The Obsidian Museum’s Tactile Trail is designed to ensure a high-quality experience for people who are blind or visually impaired, and is usable by all visitors. There are tactile replicas of archaeological artifacts, artifacts, and objects related to obsidian. Along with the tactile replicas are also Braille descriptions with detailed information ABOUT the exhibit.

Video guide in lis

The Obsidian Museum is committed to making the experience of visiting the exhibition accessible and inclusive for all visitors, including people who use Italian Sign Language (LIS). Three video guides created by professional interpreters are available, ensuring accurate and clear translation of information. The video guides are accessible through various screens in the exhibition areas.

Fatigue abatement

There are a number of supports and facilities along the exhibition route, such as rest areas and seating, where visitors can take a break and rest so as to reduce fatigue. In particular, there are benches and seats for visitors to sit and observe the showcases, listen to the guide, or read the information material.

Our projects

The staff working at the Obsidian Museum, in consultation with the municipal administration and management, is constantly engaged in the design of inclusive projects designed to promote the dissemination of knowledge about obsidian and how it was used, procured and circulated in ancient times by communities on the Island.
