Projects

The project

The project for the writing of a Sardinian-language guide to the Obsidian Museum came about with the intention of enhancing the use of Sardinian as a tool for communication and cultural promotion.
This was an experimental project, the first on the Island in relation to a museum, which involved the local population, children and adults, in a research process that required employing Sardinian to describe scientific content normally offered in Italian or other languages.

In detail

The course involved numerous meetings with the local population-very young people and older people-in the course of which, through the telling of personal and collective stories, it was possible to discuss the issues of interest from an unprecedented point of view. The leading element of each meeting was the words of the story, which, necessarily, had to be translated into the Sardinian language. Along the way, we witnessed the birth of a community of purpose, committed to finding the expressions best suited to express scientific concepts that are sometimes difficult to translate, with the goal of writing a guide to the Obsidian Museum in the Sardinian language, in its Campidanese-Pauese variant.
